The Lost Island Story

The Lost Island's Backstory

Back in about 2015, I played a game about having to survive on a deserted island, there was a whole lot to do. But it got boring after a while, after I stopped playing the game I thought that I should start making a game like that. It was difficult, so I put it to the side for a while. About two years later, my friend made a game called "Lost Territory" and uploaded it on Game Jolt, It was a game about being on an Island and fighting zombies endlessly. That inspired me to make that game that I was going to work on in 2015. So I did, I went through many different games and projects until I finally got something right. The development was going quite well so I kept going with it, after about two months of working on the game, I finally got it released. It started slow, and then it started growing a lot, like a whole lot. Over hundreds of views every day and about 30+ downloads / plays in a day. Thanks to everybody who played and supported it, that means a lot to me. That's the entire story of The Lost Island shortened. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Talking about my unreleased/hidden games

=========================================================

There is a few games that I have never released. I would like to talk about them in this devlog.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets start off with the first game I have decided not to release.
The lower something is on the list is the more surprising.

6. Quarter Life

Concept of what the logo was supposed to look like.

This game was 2 quarters a joke, 2 quarters not a joke (I'm sorry I had to). The main reason I made this is because me and my good friend were doing a self-hosted 2 person game competition for who would make the best Half-Life 3 alternative. Well that didn't go to expected, making this game was far too hard, the only thing I got done was a gravity gun and NPC's. I called my game quarter life as a joke of half life. Our games were so awfully bad and nowhere near the feeling of the half life games, we decided to scrap it.

5. Block Horror

The logo of the game. Designed by aanndrew.

I worked on this game a lot, This game was supposed to come out in Halloween 2016, but when it came to Halloween 2016, I was far from done. Even if I released the game, it would lag too much, every meter is a cube, so in the logo, there is about 40-70 cubes that my computer had to render (That' a lot of lag.)
I worked on this game for about 2 months straight in Unity. I don't know why I stopped working on it, but that was 2 and a half years ago.
This game was supposed to be about you waking up in this cubic, mossy building and you need to get out, you stumble across a monster and it chases you, you have to run until you lose the monster, then the monster looks around the place, it can hear your footsteps so you need to slowly walk if you are near him to make him not hear your footsteps.
I am likely to make a game like this, but not cubic and made in Unreal Engine.

4. Freddy's Pizza Place

What was going to be the logo for the game.
I remember working on this after I quit working on block horror, this was probably the most realistic game I have made out of every game I have worked on. The reason I stopped working on this game was because I added so much to the game my tiny old computer couldn't handle opening the game files anymore, I have a new gaming computer now, but since I spilled water over my old laptop by accident I lost all the files to this game.
Will I create this game again? I'm pretty sure fnaf fan games are dead, but I might use some of these assets from the game in one of my future games.

3. Slender:Pine Woods 2

What was going to be the logo. Designed by aanndrew.

Well, a lot of my friends and fans were DMing and telling me to release this game, well I'm sorry that I didn't whoever wanted this game. The reason I never released this game is because Slender fan-games were dying, it was hard to not create the exact same thing as every other slender game, they are all almost the same. The first Slender: Pine Woods became quite successful, I have no idea how or why but it just became successful. There was no other thing to the game than walking around with a faceless, tall man chasing you while you are trying to grab 6 pages. Maybe people liked that, I'm not too sure. Anyway, I'm going off topic here, Slender Pine Woods 2 was never released due to the lack of ideas and originality. I might make Slender Pine Woods 2 in my spare time, but I can guarantee it will die the first week it is out.

2. The Lost Island 2 (T.L.I 2)

The first lost island game logo. Created by aanndrew.

Wow, this brings back many memories of The Lost Island, the amount of support I got on this game is Insane! But anyway, I can make another devlog all on The Lost Island.
It was amazing how many people asked for The Lost Island 2. When I try to make the second game, it turns out to be almost exactly like the first game with a few different adjustments. I created a form for feedback on the game, and I added an option, "What would you like to see in this game?" I got about 20 forms back, half of the people skipped that question, I was going to use that for ideas in The Lost Island 2, but most of the answers were minor, or too hard to do.
I might try one more time to make The Lost Island 2, but not right now.

1. The Day It Came

The steam greenlight logo for the game.

This is probably the most awful games I have ever made in my life. It was basically a game where your airplane crashes at an airport and you have to fight zombies and escape the land with 5 people. Doesn't sound bad? Well this game was a mistake, I uploaded this game to steam greenlight, I got mass down-voted and a load of critics hated this game. I took it down after a few weeks.
Will I make this game again? Nope, I don't even want to talk about this game

Thank you very much for reading! I hope you enjoyed, please leave feedback in the comments as it means a lot to me.
